NVIDIA RTX Spark chip has been launched, which appears to be a major development in the high-performance category. The chip is made in collaboration with MediaTek and may usher in a new era for laptops, since it’s based on ARM for the CPU and brings an Apple Silicon moment to Windows PCs. Let’s take a deep dive into what’s new.

The CPU is made in collaboration with MediaTek, which is a 20-core CPU architecture that consists of 10 Cortex X925 cores for high performance and 10 A725 cores for efficiency, which is the NVIDIA Grace CPU. The CPU is built on a 3nm node by TSMC, which is great, and since the core architecture seems similar to the DGX Spark, it’s built on the N3E node. The RTX Spark is similar to the DGX Spark, but the DGX Spark was built for servers and included Linux as the base OS; the RTX Spark is built for consumers with Windows support.
The GPU is similar to the DGX Spark, but it’s great to see a Windows laptop getting an iGPU that’s almost near the M5 Pro in performance. The RTX Spark features a Blackwell RTX GPU with 6144 CUDA cores and 5th generation tensor cores with FP4 support. Since it’s an RTX 50 series GPU and includes the full NVIDIA stack, it includes DLSS 4.5 ray reconstruction featuring a second-generation transformer model coming to Blender 5.3 and other games and RTX Video with 4x frame generation coming to ComfyUI. NVIDIA is collaborating with Adobe for a brand new Photoshop and Premiere Pro with 2x faster AI and graphics performance.

Thanks to up to 128GB unified VRAM and the powerful GPU, we will be able to run 120B parameter models, train 70B parameter models in a laptop, and a laptop that’s going to be ultrathin too. The NVIDIA GPU and the CPU are stitched together via the NVLink C2C chip-to-chip interconnect, so we are getting a blazing speed of 600GB/s GPU to CPU, and the chip also gets ahead with an LPDDR5X RAM with a maximum bandwidth of 273GB/s with a 256-bit interface.

The company is also working to bring every game to run on Windows on ARM, with RTX Spark in mind, so there might be more games available at launch for the RTX Spark, which would be awesome.
The NVIDIA RTX Spark laptops will arrive in the fall of this year from manufacturers like Asus, Microsoft, Dell, Lenovo, and MSI, who have announced their models for the RTX Spark, and apparently there are some specifications that manufacturers are going to comply with, so the laptops are going to be 14 mm thin with a tandem OLED G-Sync panel, which is excellent, and all-day battery life, which is possible since they’re ARM machines. With mini PCs on the line, which are good since we are going to get the same performance but under a much better power envelope, this should be good competition to Apple’s mini PC lineup.


NVIDIA didn’t say anything about the pricing, but they said up to 128 GB of RAM, so we are expecting a cut-down 16 to 128 GB of RAM. In the lineup, they were also showcasing a cut-down RTX Spark chip with 400 teraflops, so it will be interesting to see. With the RTX Spark, they also showcased a DGX Station for Windows, which is a beast for AI tasks, as it features around 20 petaflops of compute in FP4, and it features the power to train a model for 1 trillion parameters or use a 1 trillion parameter model locally on a Windows machine.
